Homepage Redesign for Freelancing Platform Bosmos
Applying market and user research to create distinction between buyer & seller profiles
Context
Navigation is a crucial item of UX design. Understanding intuitively how to locate items and fulfill individual goals ensure strong onboarding to a platform, or, alternatively, lead to abandonment. By studying how other gig marketplace platforms differentiate user flows, Bosmos can create a stronger, practical platform for enhanced collaboration.

Solution Overview
We designed distinguishing homepages and navigation bars per buyer and seller workflows. My redesigns included a centered search bar and recommended services for the buyer workflow, and sales insights and top functions easily available from the dashboard like invoicing for the seller profile.
In a weeklong design challenge, I designed wireframes to differentiate buyer and seller experiences and workflows.

User Interviews
When conducting interviews, users found issue understanding the mission, and, therefore, trusting the value of Bosmos.
Users usually could not understand the company’s goal when navigating the homepage, but could when had further verbal explanation. This called for stronger explanatory content and copy on the homepage to provide social proof. The layout of the homepage also could be strengthened between buyer/seller journeys.
Market Research
We discovered that successful industry leaders separate user flows to tailor navigation to user intent.
When comparing Bosmos to top marketplaces like Amazon, Uber, Fiverr, and AirBnb, we discovered identity-driven design with dashboards separated between buyer or seller needs led to greater user ease and clarity. Through delineating how each platform uniquely catered to their users, we decided how Bosmos can use these techniques on its own platform.
